FABRIC FACTS AND CARE
Fabric facts
Of all the modern synthetic fibres, acrylic is the best for outdoor use. It has excellent thermal insulation properties (a quality that is sought after in clothing), and we recommend solution-dyed acrylic fabric. Colours are impregnated in the heart of the fibre at the production stage, which is not the case for dip-dyed fibres. Solution-dyed acrylic fabrics ensure long-lasting bright colours.
![]() Micro-perforated fabrics Over the last decade several new types of fabric have appeared, most notably Sunworker® from Dickson-Constant. These extremely high-performance textiles combine synthetic fibres with high-tech coatings. They enable heat and light to be controlled in a room. These fabrics are recommended for vertical blinds or conservatory blinds. General Care of your Blinds and Awnings: Blinds and Awnings are made from a synthetic acrylic fabric which has the best qualities for their intended use.
Reasonable care should be taken of your investment, to ensure a long lasting product.
The frame of your awning should be be fitted so as to keep the fabric perfectly stretched and there must be no parts of the awning that rub and cause friction. This tension will also prevent water pockets forming in the case of heavy rain. To maintain the awning in the best condition, it is advisable to have it mounted under a roof or overhang.
Voster Interior Products can refurbish the awning to give it a new look, by recovering or changing the fabric. Colours have a big influence on our well being and help create a cold, warm or temperate atmosphere. An awning fabric colours sunlight and has a direct influence on how we perceive our surroundings. A bluey shade will ‘cool’ the tone of the light and enhance the feeling of freshness. A yellow colour will ‘warm’ the tone of the light and give an impression of heat.
