FABRIC FACTS AND CARE

Fabric facts
Acrylic fibre

Of all the modern synthetic fibres, acrylic is the best for outdoor use. It has excellent thermal insulation properties (a quality that is sought after in clothing), and we recommend solution-dyed acrylic fabric. Colours are impregnated in the heart of the fibre at the production stage, which is not the case for dip-dyed fibres. Solution-dyed acrylic fabrics ensure long-lasting bright colours.
Vorster Interior Products uses Sunacryl fabric by Dickson-Constant of France, which carries a five year guarantee.

Micro-perforated fabrics

Over the last decade several new types of fabric have appeared, most notably Sunworker® from Dickson-Constant. These extremely high-performance textiles combine synthetic fibres with high-tech coatings. They enable heat and light to be controlled in a room. These fabrics are recommended for vertical blinds or conservatory blinds.

General Care of your Blinds and Awnings:

Blinds and Awnings are made from a synthetic acrylic fabric which has the best qualities for their intended use.

Reasonable care should be taken of your investment, to ensure a long lasting product.
Blinds should be cleaned occasionally, and care taken that they are not damaged by wind, and opened windows.
The best cleaning results are obtained with a nylon brush and water. Do not use soap or detergents.

The frame of your awning should be be fitted so as to keep the fabric perfectly stretched and there must be no parts of the awning that rub and cause friction. This tension will also prevent water pockets forming in the case of heavy rain.
For best results, In strong winds, the awning must not be left open.
Blinds must not be rolled up when wet or damp. Storage of the awning closed, while damp, will cause mildew and damage to the fabric.
Regular care should be taken of the awning, and dust and particles removed from the surface by vacuum cleaning, blowing air, beating or brushing the fabric.

To maintain the awning in the best condition, it is advisable to have it mounted under a roof or overhang.

Voster Interior Products can refurbish the awning to give it a new look, by recovering or changing the fabric.
Once again, please contact us if you need to exercise this option, and we can offer you of fabric in the colour and design of your choice. Choosing your Fabric: The fabric used on awnings is 100% solution dyed acrylic Sunacryl.
It offers excellent protection from the sun's UV rays. The degree of protection will depend on the fabric and colour you have chosen.
Light coloured fabrics let more UV light through than darker colours, but are still as effective as factor 50 sun cream (filtering more than 90% of the ultra violet radiation).
Depending on the colour, an awning fabric can block out between 80 and 95% of the solar energy.

Colours have a big influence on our well being and help create a cold, warm or temperate atmosphere. An awning fabric colours sunlight and has a direct influence on how we perceive our surroundings. A bluey shade will ‘cool’ the tone of the light and enhance the feeling of freshness. A yellow colour will ‘warm’ the tone of the light and give an impression of heat.
